Disappointment of 2018: Ant-Man and the Wasp

Disappointment of 2018: Ant-Man and the Wasp

For the record, just because something is a disappointment, it isnt necessarily a bad movie. There may be great performers in it only working with mundane material. Maybe it was lost in editing. Or maybe it just should have been better because of great performers and great directors and great everything and it just doesnt work.

Or in the case for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the plateau three months after Avengers Infinity War was just too soon for this mediocre family action comedy to succeed on the same levels as the above named as well as Black Panther did.

I laid it out straight in my original review for Ant-Man and the Wasp, and to be fair unfortunately I never went back after the 79th Moviepass Experience. In fact after this movie was released in July is when Moviepass decided to pump the breaks hard. There had already been no repeat screenings once Avengers Infinity War debuted back in April and by the time we got to July, well, they decided to switch the rules of service every two to five days. I would only get 6 more uses out of Moviepass after this event. And I honestly, I just didnt want to burn a free movie pass on this feature.

I believe had this been released the year before or even immediately the year after the first Ant-Man and you dont change anything aside for the AIW tie in during the end credits scene, this would be a much better received movie not just from this reviewer but from the fans in general. I dont think Super Hero fatigue has anything to do with anything. If that were true, we wouldnt have such the buzz people are making over the upcoming 2019 Captain Marvel.

As noted in the link above, Marvels Ant-Man and the Wasp received Two out of Six Blueberries.
