Super Troopers 2 Review by Kush Hayes

Super Troopers 2 Review by Kush Hayes

While the original Super Troopers came out in early 2002, the US Nation was still going through a healing period and well, no one really went to see that movie. But thanks to a DVD release six months later the people began to heal with laughter in their own homes and thus a cult following of Super Troopers and more importantly, Broken Lizard, began.

After Super Troopers, we had Club Dread, Dukes Of Hazzard (Which in all fairness isn’t a Broken Lizard movie, but should be), Beerfest and Slammin Salmon. Personally, I think Beerfest is the best of those four. But this is a fact, it’s been 9 years since we’ve had a Broken Lizard movie.

The guys, have been doing a lot of TV so they haven’t gone anywhere, in fact they’ve been contributing to some of your favorite TV shows.

Crowd funding for this movie began in 2015 and not only achieved its $2 million budget but exceeded it by $4 million within 48 hours.

This is a near copy cat of the original, however its a welcome addition for the time and the group. Weighing in at 1 hour 40 minutes, I would say cut out 10 minutes of this, specifically the montage where they pull over people as Mounties. It’s not bad, but it is unnecessary.

Kush?! What do you mean its a near copy cat? Whats the same? Is there anything different?
Whats the same? The guys get into madcap antics. One of them falls in love with a girl. Farva acts a fool. The only real difference in this movie is this time our tomfoolery is taking place on this border town between Vermont and Canada.

The biggest surprise in this movie isnt even advertised and its Rob Lowe, who has a huge part in this movie as a former Minor League Hockey Player of the small border town. He even gets to sink his teeth into the more edgier jokes of this movie.

This movie is still R Rated but feels quite tamer than our first Super Troopers. In fact if you take out one (hilarious) scene in the town brothel this could easily be a PG13 movie.

What else can I say, I laughed, I cackled, I howled. It was a lot of fun to see this great comedy team on the big screen again and I hope we get more Broken Lizard movies out of this.
