Mikkeller SDs Henrys Holiday Cheer - Review by: @Robyn_Seto

We are knee deep into the holiday season, so I felt it would only be appropriate to review this incredibly festive beer from our friends at Mikkeller San Diego: Henry’s Holiday Cheer. This beer is a kettle sour ale with cherries and holiday spices. It is another bright addition to Mikkeller’s “Limited Series”, making this Christmas themed beer a special treat.

Henry’s Holiday Cheer pours a delightful pinkish orange color, and smells deeply of cherry. It has a medium body, and very delicate light flavors. The simplicity of this beer showcases how brewers can do a lot with very basic ingredients. The classic ale flavor lies beneath a blast of fresh tart cherries and dries with a hint of allspice. There’s something very distinctly warm and festive about the spices used in this beer. They remind me of a pumpkin pie slice or a hot mug of mulled wine. This beer is only 5% ABV, so if wine doesn’t agree with your system this beer may be a nice alternative for you. The overall lightness of this beer paired with the holiday inspired taste makes it perfect for parties or other holiday related gatherings with adults. It’s sure to give the punchbowl a run for its money.

Henry’s Holiday Cheer is a well-rounded holiday beer that has a clean and classic flavor. It stands out from other holiday beers in that it lacks the whistles and bells of crazy ingredients. Even the label is eye-catching yet simple. I highly recommend this humble approach to a holiday beverage.

5/5 Burps
